CBD is everywhere now. You've probably seen it at your gym, yoga studio, supplement store, or even the smoothie shop. There are tons of private label CBD companies out there now, but they are not all equa,l and in a state where marijuana is still illegal, it's important to know exactly what you are getting.
Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from clients regarding CBD
There is a lot of confusion around this question, and it requires a nuanced answer. Yes, hemp derived CBD Oil (and other CBD products) with ZERO THC is legal in Texas.
Herein lies the source of a lot of the confusion. The hemp derived CBD Oil we are allowed to sell here in TX, is not the same as the CBD Oil one would find at a dispensary in a recreational state.
CBD Oil from a dispensary is going to come from medicinal cannabis strains that contain low to high levels of THC. The dispensary CBD Oil, even if they removed all THC, would be illegal in Texas because it is not hemp derived CBD(unless you are one of the very few that has been granted a medical exception).
In summary, CBD is legal in Texas so long as it meets the following criteria:
1. It is Hemp Derived CBD
2. It contains ZERO THC
This is probably the most common CBD question we face at the shop. We have a lot of clients that are drug tested for work, which is why we were very careful when deciding which CBD brand to carry at Darling Way. All Green Roads products are batch tested and contain ZERO THC making them drug test safe. This is not true for all CBD companies.
I would strongly discourage use of any CBD product for which you can not see independent lab test results verifying at least the CBD and THC content. Fake CBD products are all over the internet, and there have even been shops raided in Houston for selling "CBD OIl" that turned out to be synthetic marijuana.
It's for this reason, that we decided to carry Green Roads CBD products at Darling Way. Every Green Roads product is batch tested and comes with a QR code on the packaging that you can scan and see test results for yourself. They don't just test for CBD and THC either. All Green Roads products are also tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and residual solvents.
Below are the test results from the most recent batch of Green Roads 550mg CBD Oil (click here for full results here). Note that there is zero THC discovered.
Here are lab tests taken from the product page of a popular online CBD vendor the CBDistillery which claims to be THC free and ships to all 50 states:
The test results clearly show the presence of Delta 9 THC, the main psychoactive component of cannabis. Even this low concentration of THC means that this oil is illegal in Texas (and many other states), and because it is in concentrate form it is technically a felony.
CBD is used in a variety of ways to help treat a myriad of conditions. The topical pain creams can be used to reduce muscle, joint, and even some nerve pain. The gummies and oils in low doses, can help reduce or allievate stress, anxiety, and depression. In higher doses they help with insomnia and severe or chronic pain.
Some of the more common reasons for which our clients use CBD are:
Diabetic Nerve Pain
This will depend on what you are using CBD for.
The lotions and creams are great for muscle and joint pain, but can only be absorbed a few millimeters into the dermis so would not work well for deeper internal pain.
Oils and capsules are the best bet for severe or chronic pain.
Gummies are great for general stress and anxiety relief, or in higher doses for sleep and mild pain.
